Pregnancy massage with Tara

Pregnancy Massage with Tara

£70 for 1 hour
£100 for 1.5 hour

Massage during pregnancy can be a magical experience and can not only alleviate many common pregnancy conditions, but can also offer a unique opportunity for Mother to bond with her unborn child.

Pregnancy massage is usually performed with the woman lying on very comfortably on her side and supported with cushions. If you prefer, Tara can bring a special bolster pillow set which enables you to lie on your front, a real treat after lying on your side for so long! Please let Tara know in advance if you want a pregnancy massage on your front so she can bring the bolster set with her.

Benefits of Massage During Pregnancy:

There is lots of research which supports the tremendous benefits of pregnancy massage. Baby also benefits from massage as ‘feel good” endorphins are released by the mother and passed on via the umbilical cord. It is not unusual to feel baby kick and move as they respond to massage treatment.

Massage during pregnancy can help
common pregnancy complaints such as

  • oedema, sciatica, carpal tunnel, nausea, pelvic girdle pain, headaches etc.

  • Reduce emotional stress and anxiety

  • Release muscular tension

  • Encourage release of oxytocin

  • Prevent sluggish bowel movement

  • Lymphatic drainage; enabling toxins to be eliminated effectively

As a mother of four young children, Tara really understands the stresses and strains that pregnancy can place on the body, and she is a very experienced pregnancy massuese. Pregnancy is a wonderful time, but it is also a time of many changes to a woman’s body and can put pressure on joints, ligaments and organs often causing discomfort and pain. It can also be quite stressful. Massage can help alleviate these conditions.

Massage and Acupuncture During Pregnancy
As Tara is also a qualified tui na practitioner, she can stimulate Acupuncture points during the massage to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts like morning sickness, pelvic girdle pain and sciatica. She will make sure that the massage you receive is the one that is best tailored to your needs.

Receiving regular massage can make you more in tune with your body and can help relax during the first stage of labour often resulting in shorter and easier births. It can also lead to increased breast feeding success as it can encourage the production of prolactin.

If you want to book a pregnancy massage with Tara please book a call to discuss your needs. Tara will also need consent from your midwife, and will ask you to sign a form saying that you have discussed massage with your GP or midwife.
